How do I download the files?

Click on the blue underlined text next to the picture. Your browser will then prompt with one of two messages. If it says, "unknown file type, what do you wish to do?" click on "save as" and then choose the directory where you want to download it to. The other thing that could happen is that it could bypass the unknown file type and go directly to the "save as" dialog box. Remember, these are large files so make sure you have enough hard drive space before you download.

What do I do after I download the files?

You will need to uncompress the files. See Question 4 for more details. After you uncompress the files, goto the directory where you uncompressed them and run the install program, usally accomplished by just typing "install."

I am not getting a response from the ftp server.

The server could be temporarily down or is currently overloaded with people. Try again during off peak hours such as late at night, early in the morning, or on the weekends.

How do I uncompress these files?

Most games on this site are either compressed in the zip (.zip) format or are self-executable (.exe). PKUNZIP (pkunzip.exe, 29k) is required to extract compressed zip files. There are some files on these pages which are in arj (.arj) format which need ARJ (arj.exe, 116k). WinZip (winzip95.exe, 345k) for Windows 95 which handles both compressions along with any other compression your likely to meet. For instructions on using arj.exe or pkunzip.exe, simply type in arj or pkunzip and detailed instructions will be listed on your screen.

I have enough memory in my computer, yet the game says it requires more.

Try running memmaker, or any other memory manager you happen to have on your computer. If the game still requires more memory, you are going to have to make a startup disk. Place a disk in your a: and from the c:, type sys a:. Now try booting up from this disk and running the game.

I get a message saying that the ftp server is currently busy.

The server is probably overloaded with users. Either keep on trying or try again during off peak hours such as late at night, early in the morning, or on the weekends.

Unfortunately no. Most of the games only come in large files.

When I run the game, I get a (fill in the blank) problem.

If you are running Windows 95, try running the game in MS-DOS mode which can be accomplished by going to "Start"-"Shutdown"-"Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode." If this does not work, make sure your sound and video settings are correct. If these suggestions didn't work, e-mail me at jonlee@bergen.gov.

Why don't you have Mac games?

I might in the future, but as of now, all my resources are going towards mainting the PC part.
